There is a free $10,000 scholarship drawing that occurs every month at Scholarship Zone.  To be eligible, you need to live in the United States and be 18 or older.  If you want to enter you  just need to register at the drawing website.  You should register at your earliest convenience as the drawings occur every month.

You may want to check out the scholarships offered by the Family Foundation of Walmart.  Eligible graduating high school seniors can win $3000 for their education.  Submit a portfolio of your best essays, non-fiction and poetry to apply.

You may also be able to qualify for a scholarship program called the Carnegie Writing Scholarship.  Humor, journalism, and dramatic script are some works in writing that you need to submit to apply.  Non-fiction and poetry are also types of works that you can submit.
